Cooks and Books

Okies... Amazon has an excellent book store. I like reading reviews there. Sooo...I have linked it from here.

First....lets talk about cooks.
Cooks. They can be awesome or awful. In India, having cooks is common enough. I have experienced a fair share of both kinds. But the best part about cooks is they rhyme with books.

Today, I went back to the library to pick up some books. Having finished the alchemist, I have had no good reading material for a few days now. Today, I picked up 3 books after returning Pride and Prejudice.
1) Narcissus and Goldmund by Hermann Hesse
2) The Glass Bead by Hermann Hesse (He won the nobel prize for this)
3) Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen.

I also put in a request for "A Suitable Boy" by Vikram Seth that was checked out.
And most importantly, I managed to recollect the name of a book I read a few months ago. This book managed to bring tears to my eyes... maybe because I related some of the characters with people very close to me. The book is "Ladies Coupe" by Anita Nair. I had picked it out of the "New Books" section of our library last year as it was an Indian Author. Do read it if you can. Here is a link abt the book:

Well, with that, I take leave of you all. Babye:)

Hey anna,

Thats interesting. But you should try and finish the book;). At least.. with me...I cannot really start a new book without finishing the old one. So.. you are basically preventing yourself from reading other books!!

I like reading. It helps me pass time.. a little here.. a little there. I learn... and I believe that reading books helped me a lot for my GRE. And some books have totally changed my views towards life. So... yeah... books are nice:D

Suitable Boy eh?:)..Nice book, almost like an Indian History book!!...makes a good read..but you will need some time to read that..unless you are a fast reader:)

hehe... I know the feeling. I almost stopped reading after I got my computer. But then I realized......computers seem too cold and distant compared to a yellowing book that fits in your palms as you curl into the warmest position:D.

I did see the movie "Girl with a pearl earring". It was ok I thought... but I guess the book is different
